The virtual research environment, developed during the first funding period, also supported collaborative research within the CRC during the second funding period and the final phase. It promoted transparency, the exchange of ideas and discussion between the individual projects. By supplying the necessary IT infrastructure, INF complemented research and analysis as well as transformational processes of research data, including support for data reusability and publication. The increasing demand for data management and the necessary tools meant that establishing research data management plans, good-practice guidelines and developing tools were the key challenges of the second funding period.
