Otium in the Forest: The Construction of a Concept in Past and Present

Dissertation project

Contemporary meaning of forests as a space for contemplation and leisure

Within the project R3 Otium and the Forest: Past and Present Constructions, my project discussed the contemporary meaning of forests as a space for contemplation and leisure. Based on a micro-sociological approach, the project aimed to analyse the individual construction of forests as a space for contemplation and leisure. I wanted to identify processes and factors that influence such a construction. The research methods used included qualitative (interviews) and quantitative (questionnaires) approaches.
