Accompanying Research Project

Otium in transdisciplinary dialogue - an accompanying research on questions of gender studies, transdisciplinarity and embodiment

In the accompanying research, the aim was to put the preoccupation with the physicality of otium up for discussion in a sensual way through visualisation processes. Particular attention was paid to the tensions between the experiential structure of otium on the one hand and its social integration on the other. With regard to cross-cutting issues of all CRC's projects, I asked how methodological, theoretical analogies and differences were experienced. With regard to profile lines, I was interested which formats, discourse spaces and free spaces are needed to express the heterogeneity, but also the commonalities in the collaborative project.  "Gender and diversity" topics were particularly suitable for addressing these questions because they opened up common fields of discussion across sub-projects and working groups. They aimed at intersectional questions of how categorisations according to gender, ethnicity, class, age or ability structurally affect both epistemological and methodological conceptions - in this case, the understanding and experience of otium.
